The Benefits of Networking

In the last few weeks networking has been on my mind even more than usual.  I'm running a workshop about networking and speaking about it at another networking group, which have got me thinking about its benefits.

Aside from bringing you business, what else can networking do for you?

It can help you to identify your support services, such as design, accountancy and legal.  I've found great people that way.

Also, by developing relationships with the people you network with, you can get good advice and support from others who've experienced whatever challenges you're facing.

Tapping into your network can bring you more unexpected things too.

For example, Caroline Woodward, one of my Chippy Lippys members booked an appointment with our December speaker, Clare Mullins who is a physiotherapist.  She was delighted when Clare sorted out a shoulder injury that had caused her problems for 16 years.

Kate Barlow, one of my Ladies that Lunch members found a new member of staff after I put her in touch with Lesley Nicholls, who specialises in matching employers and employees seeking part-time positions.

I've even had a request to find a cat sitter!

So the next time you wonder what you're getting out of your networking, remember it can be more than just business.

If you want to brush up on your networking skills, then come along to the next Ladies that Lunch on 27th February.  Our speakers are Ken Norman and Tim Lyon of New Tricks Training who will be talking about some of the essentials of networking that many people find difficult.  If you want to remember the name of the person you were introduced to five minutes ago and how to break into a group of people, book your place now.  I look forward to seeing you there.
