Cost Effective Sources of New Customers

Our June meeting was in the lovely surroundings of Blenheim Palace, where 38 of us discovered how many of the Ladies of Blenheim had an entrepreneurial flair.  In a time when women had very little say and status, it was fascinating to hear how enterprising they were.  It was a great event and I'm currently planning a return visit later in the year.

With the credit crunch in full flow, our July speaker is very timely. Would you like to know the top five sources for new business? As all businesses react to the current economic climate, it is even more important to find new customers as cost-effectively as possible. Our speaker is James Butler, who will be highlighting the five best sources of new customers, and what to do to tap these sources. James is Director of Painless Business. He is a leading local business coach who writes and speaks widely on how to build successful businesses.

You will walk away with:

  • a memorable way of recounting what the five sources are;
  • concrete actions that you can take in each of the five areas;
  • a plan to review your activity and the results regularly;
  • a smile - because running a business should be fun!

 Do come along by booking online or contacting me direct on lesley@lesleyreader.co.uk . LTL member Elaine Whittaker will be hosting this meeting for me so that I can take a well earned break with my family.

SME opportunity

to tender for public sector contracts

As the Olympics gear up and more contracts are offered to small and medium-sized businesses, it is now the turn of the Department for Business, Enterprise and Regulatory Reform (BERR) to open up more contract possibilities.

BERR has announced a three month free UK trial of lower-value tender opportunities on Supply2.gov.uk

Businesses are able to view thousands of public sector contracts for the whole of the UK on the Supply2.gov.uk website. The contracts will be available online at www.supply2.gov.uk and are valued at less than £100,000, with the aim of getting more small businesses involved in government projects.

By registering on Supply2.gov.uk you can benefit from:

  • Daily email notification of public sector contract opportunities relevant to your business
  • Access to London 2012 Olympic subcontracting opportunities
  • Promotion of your company to the public sector market
  • Online contract search facility
  • Resources to assist you when tendering
  • Market intelligence

Until 31 July 2008, new registrants can benefit from access to lower-value opportunities throughout the whole of the UK – free for three months.

The free trial is part of BERR’s Strategy released in March 2008, which outlined new measures to increase the amount of government business that is won by small firms.

To register for the three month free national upgrade trial and for further information, please visit www.supply2.gov.uk before 31 July 2008.
