Networking with a Purpose
Firstly this month I've got some updates on our charity challengers. Many congratulations to Michelle Stephens for climbing Mount Kilimanjaro and raising over £900 for Against Breast Cancer in the process. Also, to Ken Norman and his sister for doing the Great North Run and raising nearly £2000 for cystic fibrosis. What great achievers you are.
I have taken on my own charity challenge but on a slightly different theme. Wanting to find a way of combining my fundraising commitment as a trustee of The Hunger Project, with my passion for local food and using my business networking skills in a social setting, I've come up with the Sizzling Singles Supper.
Taking place on Saturday 24th November from 7:30pm at The Big Bang on Walton Street, this event will bring together 50 single people (in their 30s-50s) to have a fun evening, enjoy good quality local food and raise money for The Hunger Project, to empower women and men across the world to end their own hunger. There’ll be a charity auction with items such as dinner for two at the Big Bang's Jazz Night and pamper sessions. We're planning to raise at least £5,000 on the night. So, come along and get involved.
With my business networking hat on again, the next Ladies that Lunch is Tuesday 23rd October when Peronel Barnes will be hosting so that I can celebrate my birthday with you. Our speaker is Michelle Hemstedt, Commercial Director of Shattered, the global business magazine for women.
Shattered promotes a culture of high aspiration and presents women who are successful in business as the norm, instead of the exception. It focuses on positive stories and since its launch in 2006, the magazine has featured dozens of inspirational women from around the world. Michelle will be talking about some of them. I look forward to seeing you there.
