Deliveries and Challenges
Firstly this month I have congratulations to pass on. LTL member Sam Sadler of Sadler Talbot gave birth to an 8lb 6oz baby boy called Christian on August 24th. Mother and baby are doing well and we look forward to seeing Sam back at LTL in due course. In the meantime, we all send our very best wishes to you Sam.
Also, I want to recognise two of our LTL members who are taking part in charity challenges. Setting yourself any kind of physical test is tough enough, but to combine it with raising money for a very good cause is inspiring.
Kate Mercer of Shine Consulting will be running 10 kilometres in the Blenheim Palace - Cancer Research UK run on 30th September. To make a donation to Kate then visit: http://www.10ksponsorme.org/katemercer.
Michelle Stephens from Blenheim Hospitality at Blenheim Palace is taking on the challenge of climbing Mount Kilimanjaro at the end of September and raising money for Against Breast Cancer, a local charity that funds research into long-term survival from breast cancer. To support Michelle visit: http://www.justgiving.com/mitchstephens.
Finally, I'd like to mention consumate networker Ken Norman, who is one half of New Tricks Training (and the 729 Club in Chipping Norton). Ken is doing the Great North Run on 30th September, along with his sister Cathryn, raising money for cystic fibrosis, in memory of Cathryn's schoolfriend Alexandra who died from the disease in 1992. You can support Ken by visiting: http://www.justgiving.com/cathryn-and-ken.
I wish the three of you well and congratulate you in advance for taking on such a feat. May you raise plenty of money for your respective good causes.
Talking of good causes, Ladies that Lunch speaker for September is Helen Guinness, who along with running Four by 4 Consultancy is Chair of the UK Board of Trustees of international charity, The Hunger Project. Come along and be inspired by the work of this organisation, which I was inspired to become a trustee of recently. I look forward to seeing you there.
P.S. For those of you wondering about the outcome of my tender, the timetable has slipped further and I'm still awaiting a decision. However, there are only 2 of us in the running now so I'm remaining positive!

PIONEERING INITIATIVE FOR BUSINESS WOMEN LAUNCHES
A new video based website created by successful entrepreneur, Fiona Price, launched on 5th September. Diva-Biz (www.diva-biz.com) is a ground-breaking web based mentoring and leadership forum for professional women where some of the UK’s top female business leaders talk candidly on video about their “heartfelt” experiences. All those questions you have wondered about but daren’t ask are explored on Diva-Biz.
There are also interviews with academics and authors who have written on women’s enterprise and videos of mentoring sessions and group discussions. In addition, there are many short pieces of ‘Diva wisdom’. All films are accompanied with forums so that users can add their own thoughts and experiences about the videos and provide peer group support and network with each other.
Fiona Price, founder of Diva Biz, is one of the UK’s most established names in the prestigious financial and business press, providing valuable insight and guidance for over two decades. Her company Fiona Price and Partners was the first IFA in the UK to provide financial advice for women. It is no surprise that Fiona has brought another pioneering concept into the world of women’s enterprise. |
