Working in Partnership
Running your own business from home can be a lonely affair. So, I've really enjoyed collaborating with others recently.
Firstly, Sue Stockdale, (who runs the successful Faringdon Businesswomen's Networking Group and Mission Possible), and I came together to run a joint networking event. We had 40 women who came along to the Feathers in Woodstock to be inspired by top CEO and author Margaret Heffernan. Margaret shared with us what successful women entrepreneurs have in common, which include running values based businesses; putting clients first and recognising the importance of employees, then supporting and training them to challenge their own expectations. From the feedback, the evening was a great success, so watch this space for more joint events.
Then at the last Ladies that Lunch, I joined forces with LTL member Peronel Barnes of Create & Consult to present a session on what makes a memorable introduction. We shared with everyone the importance of preparation; focusing on the benefits of your product or service to your clients rather than its features; making sure the introduction has a beginning, middle and end and the impact of story telling. If you relate a story within your introduction, it's going to draw a picture for your audience that they're more likely to remember.
These opportunities reminded me how much inspiration and energy I get from working with others, as well as having the opportunity to share ideas and workload. I'll be repeating the experience very soon. What opportunities do you have for working in partnership?
Speaking of partnerships, our speaker at the next Ladies that Lunch is matchmaker, Virginia Sweetingham of Gray and Farrar, who'll be giving us an insight into the world of personal introductions. Do join me on 24th April to find out more...
